One killed, another injured in animal attacks


IPOH: In two separate animal attacks in Perak, one man was killed and the other seriously injured.
In the first case, an Indonesian labourer, believed to have been attacked by an elephant, was found dead at a plantation in Lawin, Gerik.
Ngat Min, 44, was found by his friends at 7.30am on Friday. They found him lying injured about 200m away from their house.
Gerik OCPD Supt Abdul Manab Beharum said the post-mortem report revealed that the victim's injuries were consistent with being trampled on by elephants.
In a separate case, an orang asli villager in Banum, Gerik, was attacked by a tiger near his village at 6.30pm on Thursday.
Supt Abdul Manab said the tiger struck 25-year-old Lambou Gupel from behind and clawed at his waist, leaving four deep slash wounds.
Lambou was sent to the Taiping Hospital.
